I wondered where the tradition of "June brides" came from so I did a little
research on the Internet and I learn the tradition dates back to Roman times
when they celebrated the festival of the deity Juno, Jupiter's wife, who
was the goddess of marriage and childbirth, on the first day of June. Today we have other reasons to celebrate a wedding in this season, of course, but we have again plenty of "June brides" :)
